Is Roobet Legit? Is Roobet Legal in Canada or the US?
Roobet is a real crypto casino, not a site that vanishes with your deposit. It's run by Raw Entertainment B.V. in Curaçao. But it isn't licensed in Ontario, it excludes the United States, and outside a few markets it operates offshore with no local licence. Whether it's "legit" and whether it's good for you are two very different questions.
Who runs Roobet?
Roobet was founded around 2018 and grew quickly from 2019. Its operator, Raw Entertainment B.V., is registered in Curaçao, the same small island that licenses hundreds of online casinos, including Stake. Co-founder Matt Duea is its public face. By 2024, Roobet said it had taken more than 3.6 billion bets.
Is Roobet legal in Canada?
- Ontario: no. Roobet has no licence from Ontario's regulator and is blocked there. Even its Chelsea FC sponsorship, which covers Canada, doesn't cover Ontario.
- Alberta: Roobet isn't one of Alberta's licensed online operators, so Alberta's province-wide self-exclusion doesn't reach it.
- The rest of Canada: no province licenses Roobet. It's an offshore site.
Is Roobet legal in the US?
No. Roobet excludes the United States. If you're in the US and someone's showing you a way in, that's a red flag on its own.
How Roobet gets in front of you
Like other crypto casinos, Roobet spends heavily on fame:
- Football: it's Chelsea FC's official regional betting partner for Latin America and Canada.
- Celebrities: Snoop Dogg was named its "Chief Ganjaroo Officer" in 2023.
- Streamers: Roobet was one of four casinos Twitch named when it banned unlicensed casino streams in 2022. Its streamer promotions were also the subject of a 2021 Coffeezilla investigation series.
- Prediction markets: in May 2026, Roobet added prediction markets, so you can now bet on events, not just games. See are prediction markets gambling?
This is the same playbook I documented with Stake: put the logo everywhere young men are already looking, until it feels normal.
So, is Roobet legit?
It's a real business with a Curaçao licence. That's not the same as being regulated where you live. If something goes wrong, like a withheld payout or a closed account, an Ontario or Alberta regulator can't help you, because Roobet isn't theirs to regulate. And a licensed casino and an unlicensed one have the same business model: most of the money comes from a small share of players who lose far more than they can afford.
If you want out of Roobet
- Self-exclude: how to self-exclude and delete your Roobet account, step by step.
- Province-wide programs won't cover it. Offshore sites don't check BetGuard or Alberta's list. Exclude on Roobet directly.
- Block it: block gambling sites on every device, and cash out any crypto you'd be tempted to gamble with.
