How to Quit Polymarket: Self-Exclude and Delete Your Account
To quit Polymarket, use its self-exclusion tool and choose lifetime. Polymarket added self-exclusion at the end of September 2026, with options of 30 days, one year or for life. To delete the account as well, close every position, withdraw your funds, then delete it under Settings → Account.
When I quit gambling, I self-excluded from every casino and betting site I had access to, for as long as each one allowed. It isn't a perfect fix, and there are workarounds. But it made gambling harder, and that was a big step forward for me.
Prediction markets are betting
Polymarket calls it trading. You're still putting money on whether something happens. If it's pulling you in the way a sportsbook or casino did, it's the same problem in a different app. State self-exclusion lists are built for sportsbooks and casinos, so don't assume yours covers Polymarket.
How to self-exclude from Polymarket, step by step
- Close your open positions and withdraw your funds. Don't place "one last trade."
- Find self-exclusion in your account settings. Polymarket launched it alongside a new Trust & Safety Center. If you can't find it, search the Polymarket help center or contact support.
- Choose lifetime. Thirty days is a pause, not a decision.
How to delete your Polymarket account
- Close all open positions. According to Polymarket, you can't delete an account that still holds positions or tokens.
- Withdraw all funds from your Polymarket wallet.
- Go to polymarket.com/settings?tab=account and delete the account.
Your profile and personal data are deleted, but your past transactions stay visible on the blockchain. Deleting alone means a new account is a few minutes away. Self-exclude first.
Block other prediction markets at once
SelfExclude.io blocks you across participating prediction markets in one registration, for up to a year. It currently covers Kalshi and Novig, and lists Polymarket as coming soon. See the Kalshi guide for how it works.

Block it everywhere: how to block gambling sites on your phone and computer, and how to block gambling payments at your bank.
Block the workarounds
- Blocking software. GamCare lists several tools, including BetBlocker (Windows, Mac, Linux, iOS, Android and Fire OS) and Gamban. Check that it blocks prediction market sites, and add them manually if it doesn't.
- Your crypto. Bank gambling blocks don't stop crypto deposits. If you hold crypto you'd be tempted to bet with, cash it out, or ask someone you trust to hold the keys for a while.
- Your feeds. Polymarket odds show up all over news and social media. Mute the accounts that post them.
- Someone you trust. Tell one person what you've done.
If it still doesn't feel like enough
Self-exclusion kept me out of the casinos, but for a year and a half it didn't quiet my head. What finally did was filling that time with something else: here's how chess helped me quit gambling.
