How to Quit OLG and PlayOLG: Self-Exclude With My PlayBreak
To quit OLG online, log in to OLG.ca, go to My Account → My PlayBreak and choose a break of up to 5 years, or call OLG Player Support at 1-855-978-7529. To stay out of Ontario casinos too, call the OLG Support Centre at 1-800-387-0098 or ask staff on site. Both come from OLG's PlaySmart page.
When I quit gambling, I self-excluded from every online casino I had access to, for as long as each one allowed, and did the same with the physical casinos near me. It isn't a perfect fix, and there are workarounds. But it made gambling harder, and that was a big step forward for me.
My PlayBreak covers three separate things
- OLG.ca (online casino, sports and lottery): 1 day up to 5 years. Blocks your OLG.ca account.
- Ontario casinos: 3 months, 6 months or 1 to 5 years. You can't visit any Ontario casino, and you're removed from OLG marketing.
- Charitable Gaming Centres: the same terms, for every centre in Ontario.
Each is a separate break. If you play online and in person, sign up for both.
How to self-exclude from OLG, step by step
- Withdraw your OLG.ca balance first. Don't place "one last bet" with it.
- Open My PlayBreak. Log in to OLG.ca and go to My Account → My PlayBreak, or call 1-855-978-7529.
- Choose 5 years. It's the longest option. A one-week break just means a date circled on the calendar.
- Agree to the terms. You'll be offered check-in calls and a list of treatment services. Say yes to the calls.
- Add the casinos. Call 1-800-387-0098, or ask staff or a PlaySmart Centre at any OLG casino. You'll have your photo taken.
Block every other Ontario site
My PlayBreak only covers OLG. Ontario has dozens of other regulated sites. BetGuard blocks all of them, including OLG.ca, with one registration, for 6 months to 5 years. Do both: My PlayBreak for casinos, BetGuard for everything online.

- Offshore and crypto casinos. Neither program can block them. Exclude on each site directly.
Block the workarounds
- Blocking software. GamCare lists several tools, including BetBlocker (Windows, Mac, Linux, iOS, Android and Fire OS) and Gamban. Install one on every device.
- Your bank. Ask your bank about blocking gambling transactions on your cards.
- Someone you trust. Tell one person what you've done.
