How to Quit Stake.us: Self-Exclude From the Sweepstakes Casino
To quit Stake.us, log in and go to Account → Stake Smart → Self Exclusion → Request Self Exclusion, then choose the longest period. Options run from 6 months to 10 years, or indefinite. According to Stake.us, self-exclusion completely disables your account and is irreversible once set, so redeem any balance first.
When I quit gambling, I self-excluded from every online and crypto casino I had access to, for as long as each one allowed. It isn't a perfect fix, and there are workarounds. But it made gambling harder, and that was a big step forward for me.
Stake.us is still gambling
Stake.us calls itself a social casino. You buy Gold Coins, get Stake Cash with them, and redeem Stake Cash for real prizes. If you're spending money chasing wins you can cash out, it works on your brain the same way any casino does. If you're reading this, you probably already know that.
Break in Play vs. self-exclusion
- Break in Play: 1 day to 3 months. You can still log in and redeem, but you can't play or buy coins. When it ends, you're back in.
- Self-Exclusion: 6 months, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 or 10 years, or indefinite. It blocks login and every action on the account. This is the one to use if you want to stop.
How to self-exclude from Stake.us, step by step
- Redeem your balance first. Self-exclusion blocks login, so redeem any eligible Stake Cash before you start. Don't play it down "one last time."
- Open the self-exclusion menu. Go to Account → Stake Smart → Self Exclusion. Menu names can change; if you can't find it, search the Stake.us help center for "self-exclusion."
- Choose Request Self Exclusion, not Break in Play.
- Pick the longest period offered. Indefinite, if you can. A short break just means a date circled on the calendar.
- Want the account closed too? Contact Stake.us support by live chat or at support@stake.us.
Don't stop at Stake.us
Stake.us and Stake.com are separate sites with separate accounts. Don't assume excluding from one blocks the other. If you've used both, exclude from both.
Guides for other casinos (24)
Block it everywhere: how to block gambling sites on your phone and computer, and how to block gambling payments at your bank.
- Other sweepstakes casinos. There are dozens, and they advertise hard. Search your email for sign-up and promo messages to find the ones you've forgotten, and exclude from each.
- State programs. State self-exclusion lists are built for licensed sportsbooks and casinos. Don't count on one to cover sweepstakes sites. Exclude on the site itself.
Block the workarounds
- Blocking software. GamCare lists several tools, including BetBlocker (Windows, Mac, Linux, iOS, Android and Fire OS) and Gamban. Install one on every device.
- Your cards. Ask your bank about blocking gambling transactions. Coin purchases on sweepstakes sites may not be caught, so watch your statements too.
- Your feeds. Unfollow streamers who play Stake.us and mute promo accounts. Those streams are ads.
- Someone you trust. Tell one person what you've done. It's hard, but it was the turning point for me.
If it still doesn't feel like enough
For the first year and a half after I quit, I still thought about gambling every day. Self-exclusion kept me out of the casinos, but it didn't quiet my head. What finally did was filling that time with something else. For me, that was chess: here's how chess helped me quit gambling.
